I have just found a part time job in a bakery. I spent many different part time jobs before but this is the most interesting job I have ever had. Although some body thinks that doing with flour, nut, egg is boring I totally disagree with them. I have learned many awesome things in the kitchen and I know that this job ask the patience, creation and passion. One of my shop’s famous products is chocolate chip cookies. My boss had a strong idea and some plans for upcoming Christmas events. I was excited about the baking competition that held at the shop on Christmas day. I was just a newbie and my boss encouraged me to join this contention to get more experience. Since I filled out registration form, I have started looking for new formula. Most recipes I found are popular so I felt hopeless. Actually, I do not think that I could become the winner but I always want to overcome challenges and do something special. I found the recipe “Blondies Bar Cookies” that was posted on a forum by a cooking lover. I first tried it and got nowhere because it was not as simple as I thought. Changing baking time, temperature and ingredient gave many different results so that I had to try it again. You should follow the recipe exactly. The only suggestion is that I do not like too sweet cookies so I cut down on the sugar and it tasted like pure chocolate but you also increase or decrease the sugar up to your taste. After many tests and failure, I could turn out a sheet of perfect cookies. It is so much better than usual cookies I have eaten. I invited some friends to taste my cookies and they said that they are the best cookies ever. Now I am extremely self-confident and ready to competition. I hope I can make it good enough to be proud of myself. I am also willing to share this tasty recipe with you.
These have chocolate chips and walnuts added to a chewy dough rich in brown sugar and butter.
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- Heaping 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 large egg
- 2/3 cup semisweet chocolate morsels
- 2/3 cup walnut halves, toasted and chopped
First, preheat oven to 350F. Coat an 8-inch square baking pan with nonstick cooking spray.
Next, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt together in a small bowl.
After, in a large bowl, whisk together melted butter and brown sugar. Whisk in vanilla, then the egg, blending well. Stir in flour mixture, mixing just until blended. Make sure mixture is cool, then stir in chocolate morsels and nuts. Spread evenly in prepared pan.
Finally, bake until light golden brown, slightly puffed, and edges have begun to pull away from sides of pan, about 25 minutes. A toothpick inserted in center should come out with some moist crumbs clinging. Place pan on rack to cool completely. Cut into 16 bars.
